The King Appeals to Solve the Election Issues by the Country’s Constitution, Sam Rainsy Wants an Independent Committee

Mr. Sam Rainsy, the President of Cambodian National Rescue Party (CNRP) said he wanted an independent committee despite the king has appealed to the political parties to solve the election irregularities by the country’s constitution as stated in the constitution and the law. “Cambodia is an independent, sovereign state and the supreme law of the land to be respected by the people. The country’s issues should be solved by the constitution and the national relevant institute as stated in the constitution and the law of our country. The history showed that our nations have experienced war, conflict and political clashed which hurt the people. Therefore, I would like to appeal to all the citizens to keep calm and maintain a dignity of our nation”, said King Sihamoni in a letter to Mr. Sam Rainsy dated 30 August 2013. Non-Violent Demonstration on 7 September: CNRP Pledges Not to Make a Procession

The three protest leaders of Cambodian National Rescue Party (CNRP) have pledged not to make a procession for the non-violent demonstration to be held on 7 September which causes insecurity in the city. A pledge was made on 3 September during a meeting between Phnom Penh Authority and the representative from CNRP. The meeting was held so as to find a keynote to maintain security, order and safety for the upcoming non-violent demonstration. (Rasmei Kampuchea, 5 September 2013)
