The Royal Government Informs Foreign Embassies It Will Take Legal Action against Demonstration

The Royal Government of Cambodia will take legal action against the leader of Cambodian National Rescue Party (CNRP) who will lead the citizens to make a demonstration so as to overthrow the legal government. The government informed this situation to all foreign embassies in Cambodia with the aim of providing information concerning demonstration from the opposition party. According to Lieutenant General Khiev Sophork, a spokesman for the Ministry of Interior, the authority received document that CNRP will lead a protest in order to overthrow the government. Therefore, the legal government has a duty to maintain security and order of the citizens as well as maintain constitution in accordance with the law as stated. “It is not simple, yet it is a serious demonstration. Consequently, we cannot allow them to make it”, he added. (Rasmei Kampuchea, 28 August 2013)


2.                 Diplomatic Issue

Head of Royal Government: Cambodia Wants Rice Processing and Export by Itself

Cambodia wants rice export by itself.  Nowadays, Cambodia makes an effort to attract Malaysian to invest in Cambodia, particular on rice processing for export, said Samdech Techo Hun Sen during a meeting yesterday with Mr. Tun Datuk Sari Utana Mohd Khalil Bin, governor of Malaysian state of Melaka. He added that Cambodian economy was projected to grow by 7.6 percent this year, and the country has been boosting more investment on agricultural sector and infrastructure construction. Besides, he also asked his part to help encourage Malaysian investors to Cambodia, especially to make an investment in rice mills so as to process Cambodian rice for export.
