Cambodia, United States Military Cooperation is not Cancel
but Postpone

Some military cooperation programs between Cambodia and the United States were postponed owing to a real present situation. The decision of postponement is based on mutual agreement, not the decision of one party, said General Nem Sovath, director-general of policy and foreign affairs department of the Ministry of Defense. Lately, there was a rumor that some military cooperation programs were cancelled, yet it was not true as we still have any other tasks in the process. Besides, the postponement is due to the abilities and resources are limited. The postponement is not only for the United States but also other partner countries. More importantly, it is not related to the election or effects on army sector development, he added. (Rasmei Kampuchea, 14 August 2013)

No Meeting between Sam Rainsy-Ban Ki-moon

In order to protest against the election results, Mr. Kem Sokha, Vice President of the CNRP, told reporters that Mr. Sam Rainsy will meet Mr. Ban Ki-moon on 13 August, but according to Zeenews.india.com, Mr. Ban Ki-moon has visited Pakistan on that day as he needs to discuss about disaster, peace and education administration. Therefore, there was no meeting between Mr. Sam Rainsy and Mr. Ban Ki-moon. As a matter of fact, Mr. Sam Rainsy informed the officer of the United Nations that he would like to sue for the irregularities during the election last month. Anyhow, the officer responded that he has no rights to sue directly although the Cambodian government now is a caretaker government. Besides, the lawsuit must get permission from both permanent and non-permanent members of the United Nations Security Council (15 countries) to be discussed. (Rasmei Kampuchea, 14 August 2013)
