Japan Welcomes the National Elections in Cambodia

The Government of Japan welcomed the national elections in Cambodia, which ran smoothly and peacefully on 28 July 2013. The government will observe the situation carefully after the election, and hopes that the process following the election such as response to complaints will be carried out in a fair, prompt and peaceful manner through dialogue and cooperation between the party concerned in accordance with relevant laws and regulations, and that security and order will be maintained, according to a statement by the spokesman of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan released yesterday. NEC Starts to Verify the Elections Result

The National Election Committee (NEC) will verify the elections result from 3 August onward. Besides, the national and international observers as well as relevant persons are also be able to check and verify the result, said the press release of the NEC dated yesterday. Newly-Appointed Chinese Ambassador Congratulates CPP on Winning the Elections

H.E. Mrs. Bo Jianguo, newly-appointed Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China to Cambodia, congratulated CPP on winning the elections this 

year. Besides, she also pledged to further enhance the relationship in all fields between Cambodia and China, adding that Cambodia has supported China in all forums on the international stage, said Chinese Ambassador during a bilateral meeting with Samdech Heng Samrin, President of the National Assembly. For her parts, Samdech Heng Samrin said China is playing an important role in Cambodia in all fields including diplomatic, social and economic, and cultural relations. Besides granting lots of aids to Cambodia, China also invested in Cambodia on hydroelectricity and textile sector. (Rasmei Kampuchea, 2 August 2013)
