The US-Cambodia’s Trade Volume Up 1,44 Billion USD, While Cambodia and Japan Worth 347 Million USD

During the first quarter of this year, the bilateral trade volume between Cambodia and the United States has amounted to 1,44 billion USD, up 2 percent or 0,03 billion USD in comparing to the same period last year, which was only 1,41 billion USD worth. Cambodia’s export to the US was 1,32 billion USD, up 4 percent, while the US’s export to Cambodia was 124 million USD, up 3 percent, according to the figures of the US department of commerce. Besides, from January to June of the year 2013, the trade volume between Cambodia and Japan worth approximately 347 million USD, up 56 million USD, while it was only 291 million USD worth in comparing to the same period last year. Cambodia’s export to Japan was 240 million USD worth, up 31 percent, while Japan’s export to Cambodia was 107 milllion USD worth, decreased by 1 percent. (Rasmei Kampuchea, 8 August 2013)  

4.                 Korea’s interest in Cambodia

Korean Delegations Checks and Evaluates Financial Support

The Korean delegations from Korea’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs met Cambodian government officers in order to check and evaluate financial grant project as well as maternal and child health center project of the Republic of Korea in Cambodia, said the officer for the Council for the Development of Cambodia (CDC). Mr. Cho Tax, the Chairman of evaluation committee of Korea’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, led a group of delegation as well as the representative of Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) met and discussed with Mr. Chheang Yanara, Minister Attached to the Prime Minister and Secretary General of Cambodian Development and Rehabilitation Committee of CDC on 5 August 2013. The meeting between Korean and Cambodian officers is to check and evaluate a recent official development financial project and other financial grant projects in Siem Reap including solar power project and the maternal and child health center project, he added. Korean Delegate of International Law Affairs Hands Over the Law Books to the Royal Academy for Judicial Professions

Mrs. JO ARA, prosecutor and deputy director of international law affairs of the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Korea as well as the delegations handed over the Korean law books to the royal academy for judicial professions yesterday. The aim of Korean delegate is to discuss about cooperation between the royal academy for judicial professions and the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Korea and to hand over 100 Korean law books for researching the law sector. On the occasion, the Korean delegation also made a presentation to a trainee of the Royal School for Judges in developing law sector and intellectual property law, which implemented in Korea. Korean Coach Hards to Abandon Cambodian
National Team

Mr. Lee Tae Hoon, the South Korean football coach, who used to train the Cambodian national team from 2010 to 2012, has returned Cambodia to fulfill his work again, said Mr. Kul Sophana, general secretary of FFC. Mr. Lee signed a two-year contract with FFC from 1 August 2013 to 31 July 2015. Besides, he will begin training sessions in the early next month to get ready for the 27th SEA Games in Myanmmar.
