Mr. Sam Rainsy Rejects the Protest to Overthrow the Government, Yet the Protest Still Happen

Mr. Sam Rainsy, the President of Cambodian National Rescue Party (CNRP), has rejected that his party has no plan to make a protest in order to overthrow the Cambodian government which was different from what the Ministry of Interior has informed the foreign Embassies in Cambodia, said the leader of opposition party during a press conference yesterday. “I would like to reject for anyone who said that we will make a protest to overthrow the government. As a matter of fact, what we want is a transparency of the election results, and we will not take the people power to make a protest, which cause turmoil”, he added. Samdech Techo Hun Sen to Attend the 10th ASEAN-China Expo

At the invitation of the Government of the People’s Republic of China,  Samdech Techo Hun Sen will lead a high level delegation to attend the 10th ASEAN-China Expo, to be held from 2 to 3 September 2013, in Nanning, Guangxi, the People’s Republic of China, according to a press release of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation dated 29 August 2013. During his visit, Premier Hun Sen will hold a bilateral talk with H.E. Li Keqiang, Premier of the State Council of China and meet H.E. Li Jiheng, Governor of Yunan Province of the People’s Republic of China. (Rasmei Kampuchea, 30 August 2013)

The Opposition Party Threatens to Make a Protest on 7 September

The opposition party put a strain on Cambodian People’s Party (CPP) to turn to talk so as to establish a special committee to solve the irregularities during the election. If a special committee is not established, the Cambodian National Rescue Party (CNRP) will make a protest against the election on 7 September 2013, according to a statement of CNRP dated yesterday. CNRP also said that “I would like to appeal to international community not to recognize the election results and any government who appears from the election that not shows the reality of the citizens”. The Royal Government Informs Foreign Embassies It Will Take Legal Action against Demonstration

The Royal Government of Cambodia will take legal action against the leader of Cambodian National Rescue Party (CNRP) who will lead the citizens to make a demonstration so as to overthrow the legal government. The government informed this situation to all foreign embassies in Cambodia with the aim of providing information concerning demonstration from the opposition party. According to Lieutenant General Khiev Sophork, a spokesman for the Ministry of Interior, the authority received document that CNRP will lead a protest in order to overthrow the government. Therefore, the legal government has a duty to maintain security and order of the citizens as well as maintain constitution in accordance with the law as stated. “It is not simple, yet it is a serious demonstration. Consequently, we cannot allow them to make it”, he added. (Rasmei Kampuchea, 28 August 2013)

Head of Royal Government: Cambodia Wants Rice Processing and Export by Itself

Cambodia wants rice export by itself.  Nowadays, Cambodia makes an effort to attract Malaysian to invest in Cambodia, particular on rice processing for export, said Samdech Techo Hun Sen during a meeting yesterday with Mr. Tun Datuk Sari Utana Mohd Khalil Bin, governor of Malaysian state of Melaka. He added that Cambodian economy was projected to grow by 7.6 percent this year, and the country has been boosting more investment on agricultural sector and infrastructure construction. Besides, he also asked his part to help encourage Malaysian investors to Cambodia, especially to make an investment in rice mills so as to process Cambodian rice for export. The Opposition Leader Announces Demonstration When Constitutional Council Continue to Open Safety Package

During a meeting with the people at Freedom Park yesterday, the opposition leader of Cambodian National Rescue Party (CNRP) announced that he will lead demonstration in all places in Cambodia before the announcement of official election results despite the constitutional council continue to open safety package. The protest will be happened before the announcement of the official election results if an independent committee was not established. As a matter of fact, the aim of a protest is to claim for justice and an independent committee establishment. (Rasmei Kampuchea, 27 August 2013)

Cambodia-Korea Taekwondo Friendship Competition in 2013

Khmer-Booyoung Taekwondo Center at the National Sports Complex organized an event of the Cambodia-Korea Friendship Competition on 25 August. According to General Noun Sophea, Taekwondo Federation’s President, Taekwondo Federation Peace Corps consists of 8 members (four males and 4 females) arrived Cambodia since 8 July. The tournament yield participation from Boeung Trabek High School, the National Bodyguard department, New World Institute and Hosana School. This event really helps contribute to the Cambodian Taekwondo Federation’s experience and techniques, which help Cambodia to earn medal from SEA Games, said Mr. Ouk Sethycheat, director of the sports. Mr. Sam Rainsy Says No Demonstration for the Upcoming Monday

Mr. Sam Rainsy, the leader of Cambodian National Rescue Party, assured that a negotiation between Cambodian National Rescue Party (CNRP) and Cambodian People’s Party (CPP) still on the process. He also rejected that there will be no demonstration on 26 August 2013; it is just a talk with the people at Freedom Park. (Rasmei Kampuchea, 24 August 2013)

The Investment of Korean Companies in Cambodia Increases

The investment of Korean companies in Cambodia has increased rapidly in all fields, said Mr. Choi Yong Jun, Counsellor to the Embassy of the Republic of Korea in Cambodia. In 2012, the investment volume of the Republic of Korea in Cambodia was 270 million USD worth, which enable Korea to become having more investments among other countries in Cambodia. Besides trade investment, lots of Korean companies are implementing its work for society such as health and education sector. It also makes an effort to develop Cambodia’s social economy through many tasks, he added. (Kampuchea Tmey, 25-26 August 2013)  

Korea Donates 100 Toilets for 10 Schools in Phnom Penh

The Department of Education, Youth and Sports in Phnom Penh received 100 toilets from AJU Company through Korea fund organization for world aid in Cambodia. The donation will go to support for 10 schools which lack of toilets. The handover ceremony was held on 22 August 2013 with the presences from Mr. Choi Yong Jun, Counsellor to the Embassy of the Republic of Korea in Cambodia, Mr. Yon Ki Won, Chairman of AJU Company and Mr. Chea Cheat, Chief of Phnom Penh Municipal Department of Education, Youth and Sports. The supporting 100 toilets including 67 toilets for female students, 76 urinals for male students and 86 vessel sinks. The contribution of AJU Company is very important as it can promote the hygiene and environment of the school. More importantly, it further strengthens a good cooperation and friendship between the Government of the Republic of Korea and the Royal Government of Cambodia, said Mr. Chea Cheat.
