Through Baitong Plc Company, Cambodia is ready to export the 3,000 tons of fragrant rice to Brunei Darussalam at the end of this year. After a three-year negotiation, the Baitong Company as well as the Federation of Rice Millers in Cambodia signed an agreement on exportation of the fragrant rice to Brunei at the end of this year. The exportation will be started in November by one year contract between the company and the government of Brunei, said Oknha Phou Puy, President of the Federation of Cambodian Rice Millers Association and the Baitong Plc Company. The number and the period of exportation can be changed depend on the fragrant rice market in Cambodia as we are now facing with the supply and cannot fulfill the requirement of the international market, he added. According to Mr. Pg Haji Mohd Noordin PlpPg Mohd Said, director of the supply and state stores department at the Brunei’s Ministry of Finance, after a three-year negotiation, we have decided to export the 3,000 tons of fragrant rice from Cambodia to Brunei. After one year agreement has been finished, we expect the supply to be increased since the quality of fragrant rice in Cambodia have the same quality or can be better than the fragrant rice in Thailand.
