In Southeast Asia, the Majority of Cambodian Citizens Believe the Government Be Able to Fight against Corruption Effectively

Most of Cambodian citizens believe their government in fighting against corruption more than other nations in Southeast Asia. Transparency International Cambodia yesterday showed the result of the world’s public opinion survey on corruption of Transparency International of the year 2013 under the theme “Everyday Life and Corruption, the People’s View on Southeast Asia Region”. For Cambodia, the result depends on the survey of one thousand Cambodian citizens. According to the report, the citizens had been asked to exchange views on the question “How effective of the government in fighting against corruption?’’. For the answer, in Indonesia, there was only 16% of citizens think that their government would be able to fight against corruption effectively, while there was 25% in Thailand, 24% in Vietnam, 41% in Malaysia, and 31% in Malaysia. Yet, in Cambodia, 57% of Cambodian citizens believe that their government will be able to fight against corruption effectively. (Rasmei Kampuchea, 10 July 2013)
