President
of the National Assembly Lets the Permanent Committee to Decide Mr. Sam
Rainsy’s Request for Restore His Parliamentary Immunity
Samdech Heng Samrin, President
of the National Assembly, has responded to Mr Sam Rainsy’s request for restore
his parliamentary immunity by letting the Permanent Committee of Parliament to
decide, said the member of the Permanent Committee of Parliament. “Mr. Sam
Rainsy’s request for restore his parliamentary immunity from President of the National
Assembly was right according to constitution, yet it was wrong as he was not
the member of Sam Rainsy Party anymore, he is the party member and the Chairman
of Cambodia National Rescue Party. Therefore, Mr. Sam Rainsy as well as other
members cannot stand as a lawmaker since he already left his seat as a lawmaker
of Sam Rainsy Party. As a result, Samdech Heng Samrin has no rights to decide
as he will let the member of the Permanent Committee of Parliament make a
decision”, said H.E. Chheang Vun, Chairman of the Commission of on Foreign
Affairs, International Cooperation, Information and Media. (Rasmei Kampuchea,
