National Election Committee Shows the 2012 Voters’ List Audit Report

National Election Committee (NEC) showed the 2012 voters’ list audit report in the aim of showing its honesty in organizing voters’ list and making accuracy of the clarification of NGOs regarding the disappearance of the voters’ name on the 2013 voters’ list. Some 91 percent of Cambodia’s total populations have registered to vote, and the voter registration was found to be lower in the age from 18 to 24 with 67 percent on average, said H.E. Im Soursdey, Chairman of National Election Committee. Cambodia has a very low population, and it is expected to see the majority of people who registered for the first time. In total, 6 percent of all registrations were a first time registration, which appears on the lower side.
The reason for this is the lower registration level found in the younger age segment, according to the report. (Rasmei Kampuchea, 12 July 2013)
