The Meeting with British Deputy Foreign Minister: Ruling Party Raises the Strengthening of Cambodia-UK Relationship but the Opposition Party Raises a Disrespect for Human Rights

Regarding the today’s meeting with British Deputy Foreign Minister, the opposition party Mr. Kem Sokha plans to raise a disrespect for human rights in Cambodia, vanquishing a protest of the workers and citizens by using violence, breaking up a rally, disturbance of politics and violation of the land which happened in Koh Kong and Rattanakiri province. Concerning the political situation, CNRP will not request the British Deputy Foreign Minister to help coordinate political issues in Cambodia as Cambodian politician are able to solve the problem with a real willingness. Mr. Koy Kuong, spokesman for the Foreign Ministry, has considered the visit of Minister as the important one in boosting and strengthening relationship and cooperation between the government of Cambodia and the UK. JICA to Provide 2 Medium Size Milling Machines to the Community in Two Provinces

JICA plans to provide 2 medium size milling machines to the two communities in Takeo and Kompong Thom province in order to grind the rice with a high quality in accordance with the market’s requirements. Mr. ICHIKAWA Masakazu, vice-president of JICA, said the two Japanese companies named Kansai Corporation and Taiwa Seiki are investing in coal production from chaffs and producing the small and medium size milling machine, which provide convenience for Cambodia since the country has a lot of chaffs and needs to produce the rice with high quality for international market. Ministry of National Defense Condemns an Insult of CNRP to the Royal Cambodian Armed Forces
                                                                                                        
A spokesman for the Ministry of National Defense has condemned a statement of Mr. Yim Sovann, spokesman for CNRP, which insulted the Royal Cambodian Armed Forces. In a statement on 23 January 2014, he said “The government that had been established by the illegal parliament is an illegitimate government and the troops who serve the illegitimate government are also illegal”. According to a press release of a spokesman for the Ministry of National Defense dated 28 January 2014, the election of the 5th mandate was conducted smoothly without violence and with a free, just and fair manner, adding that in the situation where the national security and social order are destroyed which affected national harmony and progress, the Royal Cambodian Armed Forces must protect the constitution and legitimate government who had been appointed by the legal parliament. British Deputy Foreign Minister to Pay 2 Days Visit Cambodia
                                                                                                        
According to a press release of the Embassy of the United Kingdom in Cambodia dated yesterday, the British Deputy Foreign Minister H.E. Hugo Swire will visit Cambodia from 30 to 31 January 2014. During the visit, he is scheduled to meet Samdech Hun Sen, H.E. Hor Namhong, Minister of Foreign Affairs, as well as the leader of CNRP concerning the political situation in Cambodia. “I am very pleased to pay the first visit to Cambodia. Cambodia is an attractive and exciting country which established the relationship with the UK. My presence in Cambodia is
to clearly understand the current political situation in the country and other challenges so as to maintain peace, security and democratic future in Cambodia. In addition, I also want to monitor the potential to increase the trade relation between the two countries in order to boost the economic growth in the near future”, H.E. Royal Government of Cambodia Decides to Establish the Working Group National Supervisors in All 25 Provinces
                                                                                                        
The Royal Government of Cambodia has decided to establish the working group national supervisors so as to monitor and support political implementation and rectangular strategy phase III of the government in all 25 provinces. According to a decision of Cambodian government which was signed on 27 January 2014 by Samdech Techo Hun Sen, the 772 officials role in the member of Cambodian government ranging from Deputy Prime Minister to Director General or similar officials will supervise and strengthen the reform of the Royal Government at the field. The chair of working group has the rights to coordinate with the ministries and other institutions to assign director general or similar officials to participate in the working group. Timor-Leste to Open an Embassy in Cambodia This Year
                                                                                                        
After the election in Cambodia had been conducted smoothly with a free, just and fair manner and the establishment of the government of the 5th mandate, which is leading the country full of peace, stability and development in all fields, the Democratic Republic of Timor-Leste has decided to open an embassy in Cambodia this year so as to further strengthen the relationship and cooperation between the two countries, said Mr. Koy Kuong, spokesman for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation. Authorities Disperse the Protesters In Front of the Ministry of Information
                                                                                                        
The competent authorities had dispersed the protesters led by Mr. Mam Sonando, President of Beehive Radio, in front of the Ministry of Information while they were calling for increased radio bandwidth as well as TV license on 26 January 2014. Hundreds of military polices held the batons which led by Major General Rath Srieng, Gendarmerie Commander, broke up a rally and fired smoke canisters to protesters, which caused around 10 protesters were left injured and some had fallen down in a faint due to the smoke canisters. Mr. Long Dimanche, spokesman for Phnom Penh City Hall, said the military forces just implemented the law through a decision of Phnom Penh City Hall that did not allow Mr. Sonando to make a protest and march to the Ministry of Information as it would cause turmoil to society, yet he still violated the permission of City Hall. Volunteer Students of Changwon National University Continue to Build a House and Contribute the Clothes to Poor Citizens in Chong Knies and Srok Pouk
                                                                                                        
The volunteer students of Changwon National University continued to help community in Cambodia. They have served lots of humanity activity in Chong Knies area and Phnom Kroam, Siem Reap province including contributing the foods and breads to the people and children, building a house for homeless citizens, donating 2 boats to citizens, and contributing clothes and other materials.
